About me

I am Daniel, an Engineering Physics student at UBC. In addition to the engineering and programming projects that I usually focus on, I also do 3D modeling, game development, graphic design, and industrial design as a hobby. I am also a freelance designer. If you have anything that needs designing, I should love to help out. Also, I appreciate donations!

History

I was born approximately 560,000,000 seconds ago in Singapore, where I received a bilingual primary school education in English and Mandarin Chinese. I went to the Nanyang Primary School, and was in the Gifted Education Programme. In 2005, I immigrated to Canada, where I received secondary education in Kitsilano Secondary School for one year and in University Transition Program for two years. In 2008, I entered the University of British Columbia. I am currently studying Engineering Physics, specializing in Mechatronics.

Hobbies

My main hobbies are 3D modeling, design, and programming for fun. But I do have other hobbies. For instance, I play the piano, and passed grade 8 RCM with first class honours. Some pieces I play include Intermezzo Op. 117 No. 2 in B flat minor by Brahms, and Étude Op. 10 No. 3, in E major by Chopin.

I also play chess, and am rated at around 2100 in bullet (1 minute) chess on chess.com. However my skill in standard over-the-table chess may be far less. I have not participated in any official chess tournaments. I did, however, participate in the UBC Engineering chess tournament, where only 5 people showed up, and won it (probably because the strongest player recently graduated). One day I hope to fuse my interest in chess with my interest in programming by developing a chess engine.

I love photography. I own a Canon EOS 1000D with a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC and a Tair 11a. Photography »
