A Timeline

October 1993: I was born in Singapore

January 2000: I was enrolled in Nanyang Primary School, and was educated bilingually in English and Mandarin

2003-2005: I was selected to be part of the Gifted Education Programme

21 August 2005: I came to Canada

September 2005 - June 2006: I was selected to be part of the Kitsilano Secondary School MACC Program

September 2006 - June 2008: I was selected to be part of the UBC Transition Program

September 2008 - ?: I was selected to be part of the UBC Science One program

My achievements

I have participated in many competitions of various subjects when in Nanyang Primary School and in the Transition Programme, of which many have had good results.

I have participated in the Michelin Challenge Design 2008, and my design has been selected for display at the North American International Auto Show

I have participated in the Canadian Open Mathematics Competition in 2006 and got in the top 20%, and scored the highest amongst all students in the UBC Transition Program. I have also participated in the AMC in 2008 and gotten into the AIME. In the Fermat competition, I got the highest score in Transition at 136. I have also participated in the Canadian MATHChallengers in the regional and provincial levels, and in both of them my team won first place. In the regional one, I was the 4th in the pool.

I received 2008 Outstanding Physics Scholar award for being the top physics student at the Transition Program, as well as Distinguished Scholar Awards for English, Chemistry, and Calculus, for maintaining an average above 90%. In addition, I received the Transition Community Service award for my efforts in creating the Transition Website, graduation slideshow, yearbook, and fundraiser tickets.

I have participated in the 2008 BC's Brightest Minds physics competition and, with my team partner, Jonathan Shen, received first prize in the province as well as a scholarship of $3000.
